Excerpt Tuesday

Sizzling Nights, 1

Katie Thomas has been living a secret life for four years to keep safe. She’s scared and not sure what to do, until she moves next door to fellow doctor, Chad Davis. One sizzling night together has her yearning for more, but what he wants in the bedroom is a threat to everything she’s ever believed.
Chad Davis has always had a thing for the sexy doctor. Assigned to protect Katie, he is determined to bring down her ex. His reasons are personal, but one erotic night together in his bed is all it takes for his priorities to shift. He is not giving her up, no matter how much she insists she is not right for him.
Can Chad help Katie unlock her hidden desires and prove to her she means more to him than a fling?

Be Warned: BDSM, violence

Excerpt
The moans coming from Katie just about did him in. Chad lowered her onto the bed and the grip of her arms around his neck tightened. For a moment, she pulled away from the kiss.
“I’ve got you. I won’t drop you.”
A smile crossed her face and made his heart grip tighter against his chest. He was going to enjoy teaching her to be submissive.
“Take your shirt off,” he said with a gruff voice.
“What?”
“You heard what I said.” She stiffened and pulled her legs against her chest. Chad stifled a curse. He had to get his dominant side in check if he was going to reach her. He couldn’t go all “hard-ass” on her the first time. What she needed right now was reassurance that she was safe enough with him to truly let go.
“You’re not going to take it off?” Uncertainty laced her voice. .
“If I wanted to take it off of you, I would have.” Kneeling on the bed beside her, Chad promised himself to go as slowly as she needed. His gut told him she wanted this even if she wasn’t sure how it worked. It was part of his job to show her what her body wanted, needed and craved deep down inside. “If you didn’t have a fantasy about this, you wouldn’t have books on BDSM. Let me show you what your body secretly craves.”
“I’m not a helpless bimbo that needs to be told what to do to get off,” she spit back.
He hardly kept his laugh inside. She still wanted to fight what he knew her body wanted, but her independent streak was woven so deeply that she didn’t want to let go and feel. Hell, after all she’d been through, he could understand why. That was one thing he admired about her.  Katie didn’t take shit from anyone.

This week I'm still using my book, Bound To Protect for my six. I hope you enjoy this little snippet. Thank you all for all the comments I got last week.

Katie paid for her drink and hurried out the door. “Since you didn’t answer my question, I’ll take it you haven’t gotten lucky in the past month. You still have a stick up your ass.”
“Why don’t you go talk to someone who actually wants to talk to you?” How had he gotten his coffee so fast? Katie had hoped to be able to get on the elevator before he made his way out.

Q&A With Kiru Taye

Q&A with romance author Kiru Taye

Kiru’s brief bio: Kiru is the author of passionate contemporary, historical and paranormal romance. Her debut historical novella set in pre-colonial West Africa, His Treasure, is an All Romance eBooks best seller and a Love Romances Cafe Best Book of 2011 nominee.

Alyssa: So, Kiru, how long have you been writing?

Kiru: Hi Alyssa, it’s great to be your guest today. I started writing seriously in January 2010. Prior to that, the last time I wrote stories was in high school.

Alyssa: What made you pick writing romance?

Kiru: Romantic fiction is a genre I love reading. Out of the paperbacks on my bookshelves, or eBooks on my eReaders (yep, I’ve got two of those) 90% are romance novels. So it kind of made sense that I write about what I love.

Alyssa: Are you the kind of author who needs a certain drink or snack nearby when writing? If so, what is it?

Kiru:  Well, I’ve got to have my cup of hot drink (coffee or Chai tea, depending on my mood) before I can even write anything coherent. lol

Alyssa: How has your life changed since becoming published?

Kiru:  It’s more chaotic. I’m lucky I have a patient husband who appreciates that I don’t work a 9 to 5 job like everyone else.  When I’ve got a deadline, everything else takes a back seat.

Alyssa: What can you tell me about your newest release?

Kiru:  His Strength is book 2 in my Men of Valor historical romance series. It follows the story of Ikem and Nneka who were briefly mentioned in book 1, His Treasure. Each story is a stand-alone and can be read independently. But they are all set in the same location, a village in ancient West Africa and occur around the same event—the New Yam festival. So you get to see how this one event affects the lives of the characters differently. Ikem is a strong alpha who has no qualms about how to tame his strong-willed quarry. But Nneka has a few tricks up her sleeves and certainly keeps him on his toes till the last page.

Here’s the blurb:
When a warrior seeks to claim a free-spirited woman, he soon discovers a tigress unwilling to be caged.
As a young widow, Nneka yearns to be released from the obligations to her late husband’s family and live as an independent woman. With a past coloured by a brutal father, she’ll never yield to another man willingly and will do just about anything to attain that freedom including flouting the laws of the land.
Ikem was unable to claim Nneka once because his lineage meant he wasn’t good enough. Now fate has given him another chance. But he quickly discovers that claiming this unpredictable wildcat is easier said than done. Will he be able to convince her that succumbing to their passion is the key to her freedom?

His Strength excerpt:
Nneka stood before him, her smooth brown skin glowing in the lamplight in her hands, her dark eyes and mouth wide open, shocked. Dressed in light nightwear, she looked ready for sleep. His gaze was drawn to the way her dress was wrapped around her body, accentuating her curves. It drew his attention to the swell of her breasts in the dimness of the light.

"W-what are you doing here?" He noticed the slight quake in her subdued voice. Its tremulous tone resonated in the pit of his stomach. His body's response was primal. To stop himself from reaching for her, he folded his arms across his chest. His body filled her doorway.

"I told you I'd come here if you didn't meet me today. I keep my word."

With a dismissive shrug, she lifted an eyebrow. The self-assured gleam back in her eyes. "Well, I never said I was going to meet you. You assumed. Your mistake."

He'd give her that. She hadn't verbally agreed to meet him. He'd assumed she'd agreed after she succumbed to his kiss. "A mistake I won't be making again." He frowned to show his displeasure.

"You shouldn't be here. Go home. Someone might see you."

She moved to close the door, but he put his foot out to stop her. "You’d better let me in then, unless you want your in-laws to know I'm here. I don't mind, either way." Flexing his fingers, he kept his arms folded. He yearned to run his hands down her smooth, pliant skin.

Her eyes held a furious glare for a while, but she opened the door wider, moving out of the way. Stooping to avoid hitting his head on the low door frame, he walked in. She shut the door behind him and placed the lamp in the wall sconce.

"You need to be quick about your visit. It's been a long day, and I need my sleep."

She remained standing near the door as he surveyed the room. It was of modest size with a long table and bench. In the corner, she stored her cooking wares. A door led off the room to what he assumed was the sleeping chamber. The air was scented with orange zest. He'd smelled it on her the other day. Realizing it was Nneka's scent, he turned to find her with her arms folded across her chest. It lifted her breasts into prominence. The twin peaks of her nipples pouted in his direction. The smoldering embers of his desire crackled to life again. His manhood swelled.

"The night is still young, Nneka. There'll be plenty of time to sleep yet."

Excerpt Tuesday with Anna Keraleigh

This week I have Anna Keraleigh with my for Excerpt Tuesday.

Blurb

Jade is an unhappily married woman

Ryan  is a sexy Private Investigator that loves her.

He brings her secret fantasies to life, ice cream covered flesh, dominance, handcuffs and the ultimate desire of another woman. However, their wild sexcapade ends when Jade’s husband returns and their oasis returns to desert. Can they survive apart now that they have tasted true love?

These lovers have a one-week affair that will change their lives forever.

Who’s ready for some naughty bits and wild romps? In my new novella Seven Days in Jade, I have a lonely wife, Jade, who needs a good loving from a sexy private investigator. Below is a sneak peek into part two – Watch Me Wednesday.

Excerpt

Jade decided to accept this for what it was—an amazing affair with the perfect man.

The skirt she wore was too tight, her panties wet with need, and she could barely contain her need when she opened the door. It took a few tries because the key didn’t seem to share her enthusiasm. A little more focus and the front door of her home unlocked. She stepped inside, dropped the briefcase as the door closed, and hid her horny body from the world. “Ryan!” she called out, loud and sensual.

He yelled something back, far away and inaudible.

“Why can’t you ever be naked on the couch and ready to…” Words failed as she discovered him. He was on the second story landing; a rose in his hand, red her favorite kind. He had this naughty smile rising on his face. It distinctly reminded her of a predator catching prey. Shivers ran down her body, lingering on her nipples and between her legs.

“What was that about naked and on a couch?”

“Nothing.” She licked her lips and stared at his bare chest. The jeans were so low on his hips she could see the tuft of hair that led to his penis. Maybe she should obtain a photo of him naked, that way she could drool at work and not be astounded at the sight of her lover every time she laid her eyes on him…okay so she would drool anyway. He was just that yummy.

“I have a surprise…” he added and adjusted his crotch. “First some rules.”

Oh goody, she really loved his rules. He was so inventive.

Six Sentence Sunday

Before I share this week's six I want to thank all my fans for a great release of Bound To Protect. It's made the bestseller list over at ARe and Bookstrand.  I'm still going to use Chad and Katie this week and it's a continuous of last week's six.

Not that she’d admit that to him after all she’d been through. If he was going to play his cards right, he’d have to tone it down and show her he was different. That she could trust him outside the bedroom and inside.
“You could have fooled us.”
“Good, hopefully it’s working on Kaden, and now he’ll leave her alone.”
“What’s the news you wanted to share with us?”

You can purchase Bound To Protect from Evernight Publishing, Kindle, ARe and Bookstrand. If you would like to join in with some awesome authors go here.

Q&A With Raven McAllan

I got some amazing news this morning. Bound To Protect is a Bestseller on ARe in the suspense category and also a hot-selling title on Bookstrand.

Today, I'm over at three different places.

  1.  London Saint James 's blog with an author interview along with a giveaway of my newest release Bound To Protect.
  2. Sex Marks The G-Spot with an excerpt.

For Question and Answers, I have Raven McAllan with me today.
How long have you been writing? seriously, just over a year casually for ever it seems.

What made you pick writing erotic? (Laughs) I didn't, I think it picked me

Are you the kind of author who needs a certain drink or snack near by when writing? If so what is it? Coffee and chocolate during the day and wine and chocolate during the evening

How has your life changed since becoming published? More dust bunnies more wine more er erotic thoughts, less free time

What can you tell me about your newest release?

What do you do when a drop dead gorgeous man turns up on your doorstep, demanding his wife? Who, it seems has stolen your identity? Find out why of course.
When Gray Reynard turns up on Jules' doorstep expecting to find his estranged wife and finds her instead both are surprised. Especially as the air between them sizzles. But before they can do anything about that sizzle they need to find out what is going on. Or so they think.
But life doesn't always pan out as you want, and Jules and Gray have to decide whether to work together or walk away from what they are feeling.

Excerpt
"Think positive." She advised him. "You might get the diary where I’ve written about making love on a pool table or having sex with David Beckham in a swimming pool."
The look on his face was priceless. She wished she could capture it and sell it. She’d make millions.
"You didn’t?"
"Well, not David Beckham, sadly. As for the pool table?  You’ll have to wait and see."
"Give me a diary," he said fervently. "I need pointers."
He doesn’t, she thought. He really doesn’t.
"Backwards." Jules decided. "You work through them from when you met her. If anything stands out, or seems weird, and pool tables do not come under the heading of weird, make a note of it. I’ll start from my book being published and go forward. How does that sound?"
"Long. But yes, I guess it’s all we can do."
Well, not all, she thought. I can think of several other things we could do. But they won’t help us read these diaries. As Gray laughed, the tone deep and sexy, she wondered if he had read her mind. But no, he had just read an entry in her most recent diary. Written the day before.
"A drop-dead gorgeous, play-your-cards-right-and-you-can-have-me man appeared on my doorstep. I thought all my birthdays had come at once, before I realized he was a real up-his-own-ass type asshole." He read her words aloud. "Pity, because I could do with a really good—"
"Enough!" Jules' cheeks burned and were no doubt scarlet. "Shit, shit, shit! I forgot I’d written yesterday. But why the hell have you got it? You should be reading three years ago." Mortified, she realized she’d picked up her current diary when she took all the others from her bag. "Think I’ll have that back, please."
"Hold on." Gray kept his right hand firmly on the diary, holding it in place while he wrote something under her entry, then handed it back.
"Thank you so much. Oh." She read what he’d written and her cheeks grew even hotter. "Oh, um, yes, er."
"Yes?"
"Just shut up, Gray. Please. I’m hot and bothered enough, and do not even say it. Yeah, I know, you could make me even hotter . . . oh, bugger it. I’ve done it again. My feet are in my mouth as much as yours are. In your mouth, I mean, not mine and . . . . Fu . . . . Stop this right now."
Gray lay half out of his chair, laughing so hard tears streamed down his face.
A second later, Jules was in the same state.
"Oh, God," she said when she could at last speak coherently. "I needed that. No more, though. No innuendos, no double speak. Nothing. We need to work."

Excerpt Tuesday

Before I get to Excerpt Tuesday this week, I want to let you know that I'm over at C.R. Moss for her Tuesday Tea talking about how Bound To Protect came to be.

Chad is over at Sex Marks The G-Spot doing an interview and I'm almost scared what might come out of his mouth.

Also as I said on my blog, that one lucky person who commented would win an ebook of Bound To Protect along with Road To Recovery, and that lucky winner is Empibaryeh. Please email me at alyssa@alyssa-fox.com to get your copy.

 ****
“Is that so?” Butterflies slammed against her stomach as his hand continued to roam her body. For a moment she worried about Chad's taking things too far, about not being what he needed in a woman. What if she wasn’t built to do what he wanted? He didn’t give her much time to think on that before slipping off her thong. Now she was completely naked with his hard body pressed against hers.
“Yes. Now, no talking, unless you’re screaming out my name. Until then, call me ‘Sir’.”
“What if I have a question or something is bothering me?”
“Address me as ‘Sir’ and we’ll deal with it. Are you ready?”
Katie nodded. Nothing could happen to her, and if she needed it, she had a safe word. If she had to, she’d hold onto that reassurance with all her might and not hesitate to speak the safe word if things overwhelmed her. That was the whole point of having a safe word.
“I asked you a question.”
Drawing in her bottom lip, she grazed it with her teeth. “Yes, I’m ready.”
“Yes, what, Katie?” He stopped the caress just a whisper away from her breast. She desperately wanted him to touch her again. Arching towards him, she tried to bring her body into contact with his hand, but he moved.
“Yes, Sir. I’m ready.”
“Relax. Every time I touch you, I can feel you jump. No one’s going to hurt you here.”
Taking in a deep breath, she willed herself to relax, or at least try. Before, this was the point where she’d have trouble and start to pull back from her lover.
“Shouldn’t we lie down?”
“If I thought we needed to, then I’d have told you. Get in the middle of the bed and sit back on your heels.” He could almost see the wheels turning in her head, and for a moment, he wondered if she would use the safe word. Taking a breath, she moved to the bed and did as he had told her. Good girl. Chad climbed on the bed behind her. He palmed her ass, sending heat racing down her body. “Anyone ever take you back here?”
Oh God, not there! That shouldn’t turn her on even more. Chad’s body heat seeped into her back as he blanketed her with the hard muscles of his chest. His hand moved between her thighs.
“Don’t make me ask again. I’ll spank your ass next time.”
“Yes, but I don’t like it. It hurts.” She turned her head to glance at him. “No anal. I can’t do that. You can kiss your chance to fuck me away if you think you’re going to hit me.” Never again would she allow a man to hit her. Being that weak again wasn’t an option anymore. Moisture seeped between her thighs at the erotic thought of  him smacking her, but no way would she tell him that it turned her on to have him do it. She'd read about it in her books, and it was never abusive. According to the books, it was always done in a safe manner, and brought the woman pleasure. There’d been times that she’d been so turned on after reading that she had to take care of things on her own. And she had no doubts that Chad would see to her pleasure in every way.

“Good, just keep going along with whatever I do, and I’ll get you to safety.” Damn if his voice didn’t sound like he’d swallowed some rocks.
“I can do that.”
“Do you two need a room?” Kyle asked as he tried to hold back a laugh.
“No, it’s all for show.” Bullshit. It wasn’t a show on his end, and from her reaction it wasn't for her either.

Men In Uniform

*Today I'm over at Josee Renard's blog with an author interview.*
http://joseerenard.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/interview-with-alyssa-fox/

Today, I have Doris O'Connor on my blog talking about Men in uniform

There is something about a man in a uniform that makes a woman's heart beat a little bit faster. Don't ask me to quantify what it is about the uniform— all I know is that it does. Even the most cynical amongst us will admit to a little swoon here and there. My hubby tells me it’s the same for the men and women in uniform. I guess some of the attraction is without doubt in the position of power and authority that comes with the uniform. Or the symbol of caring—think doctors and nurses. Protection—think our armed forces and the police. So, when it comes to writing Romance men in uniform are always hot.

Add some children into the mix and well…

*sigh* I don't know about you but I melt a little when I look at that picture. And there may be a scene involving my hero and his cousin's newest baby in my latest release. So, when I pondered this story, I knew I wanted to write about a firefighter. Everyone likes a firefighter, right? In fact I first got the idea when I was sitting in my car outside my children's school, waiting for the bell to ring. There was a fire engine in the playground and naturally the kids were hyper excited. But what really amused me was observing the teachers. Now, I don't know about where you live, but round these parts, sadly, the firefighters do not look like Sexy up there. Nonetheless, several members of staff were at their best, giggly, and flirty self and an idea was born. What if, my hero was a firefighter and my heroine a school teacher and they were reunited at one of these educational school meetings? And what if they had history? And just to add a bit more spice, what if my firefighter was Italian and part of a huge, tightknit Italian family with a very fierce Mamma, and more secrets and drama than the best soap opera? I needed some visual inspiration for my sexy Italian Alex Giovanni and I found it in the lovely Joe Manganiello.

Words flowed very easily with that visual inspiration *grin* and as is typical for me, the story took on a life of its own. I fell in love with Alex and Kitty and the whole Giovanni Clan, so much so that I decided to write a series. Alex, Marco and Giorgio are the three drop dead gorgeous cousins, who look more like brothers and yes they all look like Joe M. Did I have fun writing those stories? You bet I did and I hope readers will fall in love with them too. Too Hot To Handle is Alex's story and his fight for a HEA with fiery red head Kitty. It has had several re-writes since that original draft as my writing evolved. When Evernight contracted my sexy Italian they requested I add more heat. The erotic writer in me rubbed her hands in glee and edits have never been such fun ;-) I leave you to judge for yourself whether I've succeeded. Too Hot To Handle released on Thursday and it seems folks do like my sexy Italian. It is already a bestseller at ARe. *big grin* http://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-toohottohandle-671160-149.html Cue me bouncing around like a loon and waking the baby up with my inane whooping

When firefighter Alex Giovanni returns to his old neighborhood to fulfill family obligations, he is reunited with the woman inhabiting his dreams. The sexy siren ran out on him after one explosive night many years ago. Hiding behind her sensible clothes she portrays the perfect image of Miss Prim and Proper and Alex vows to unlock the passionate woman he remembers. Mixing business with pleasure has never been so much fun. Kitty Jenkins’ orderly life gets turned upside down when Alex walks into her school. Their passion filled night four years ago has left her with a secret that threatens to tear them apart. Giving into Alex is out of the question, regardless of how much her body craves his touch. When secrets spill and disaster strikes, can their passion turn into love? There is an excerpt and a chance to win a copy on my blog here. I will be announcing the winner on Sunday January 15th.
